Keisuke Nakashima, Co-Director

Keisuke Nakashima is the co-director at the Global Policy Initiative, a virtual public policy think tank. He is also assistant director and fellow with the Global Aging Initiative (GAI) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C. His research interests include the economics of population aging and social security reform. He is the author of numerous articles on aging trends in East Asia. He recently co-authored China's Long March to Retirement Reform: The Graying of the Middle Kingdom Revisited (CSIS/Prudential, 2009, in English and Chinese); "Meeting Japan's Aging Challenge" (Keidanren-USA, 2008); and The Aging of Korea: Demographics and Retirement Policy in the Land of the Morning Calm (CSIS/MetLife, 2007, in English and Korean). He began his tenure at CSIS in October 2002 as a research intern with GAI and was subsequently promoted to research assistant in August 2003, to research associate in November 2004, and to his current position in January 2009. Nakashima holds an M.A. in international relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University and a B.A. in Anglo-American studies from Kobe City University of Foreign Studies. He has also studied at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University and at Newbury College. He is fluent in English and Japanese.
